Cannabinoids and Cancer
We may know the powerful properties that cannabinoids can have on our body, relieve anxiety, help with sleep, help with weight loss and others; but also, cannabinoids have shown to help in one of the most mortal sicknesses in the world: cancer.
With cancer treatments what doctors are trying to achieve is the detention of abnormal cellular growth and the American Cancer Society states that “More recently, scientists reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD can slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in lab dishes”. Some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may slow growth and reduce spread of some forms of cancer.” In addition, Cancer Research UK describes that “different cannabinoids can cause cancer cell death, block cell growth, stop the development of blood vessels (needed for tumors to grow), reduce inflammation and reduce the ability of cancer to spread.”
Now, it’s important to note that cannabinoids can help in some cancers but not all, and so it’s important to talk to your doctor about your possibilities with this treatment.
